Ed's Fly Fishing News for the Week of October 12, 2009

Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers! Learn more at 100thmeridian.org.

Sales! Sales! Sales! This is the time of year where we get to mark down a few items that are slated to be discontinued. Some of these deals might be better than waiting to see the latest and greatest for next year. We have vests, shirts, wading boots, and even some waders that are marked down from 25%-50% off. If you’re looking for an inexpensive reel, there are a few left and priced to move, especially if you are looking for a nice salt water reel. If a salt water rod is in your future, Sage has just announced the Xi2’s are on the chopping block. They are all down almost $200 and I really only have a few left. These are great rods with lifetime warranties.

Starting on September 1st we have decided to make a slight adjustment on the way we deal with returning a rod to the manufacturer for warranty repair. The consumer can go to our website and link directly to the manufacturer where you can download a repair form and ship the item on your own. You can pay by credit card, check or money order included with your repair. If you would like us to take care of this service, we will complete the repair form, pack, ship, insure, and track your package all the way back to the shop and call you when it arrives for a total cost of $75 plus tax. The shipping costs for us have gone up so much that with out this in-shop increase we simply can’t afford this service for our customers. The benefit to you having us ship your item is that we have the shipping tubes, packing material, a UPS pick up and daily drop off, and a commercial addresses where the package has to be signed for. We want to be able to assist you in every way, and we hope this isn’t really anything but extending our service to you in a way that covers our costs in the shipping and handling category, thank you for your understanding.

Help keep the lights on! The Upper Pecos Watershed Association is hard at work in its efforts to improve water quality in the Pecos and its tributaries, provide better recreational opportunities, and preserve the traditional cultures of the Pecos Watershed. They cannot do it without your help! The grants that fund their work do not cover all of the costs of keeping their office open and must be matched with non-federal or state funds or donations in kind. Please consider helping the Pecos with your donation. To keep the office open, UPWA needs $1300.00 per month. For more information, or to help, please contact Lexy at (505) 757-3600 or Upper Pecos Watershed Association [upwa@cybermesa.com]. Thanks for your support.
